Super long time no see! A lot of people have been asking me to blog about my wedding plans and I honestly have had very little to time to chronicle the planning but I do have some pictures from one event related to my wedding. Although it wasn't me that was doing the planning, it was the wonderful people I'm lucky to have in my life that did all the work.

weekend of big surprises (disney world trip!) pt 2
Continuing from my previous post, Alex and I just finished The Magic Kingdom and we were on our way to Hollywood Studios.
We took the Disney shuttle there and it was pretty packed because I think the bus was late or one of them didn't show up. Alex and I were standing in the front next to the bus driver. Thankfully, the ride wasn't too long so it wasn't bad.

cpa, cma results
As some of you know, I've been working towards getting my Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation (previously known as Certified Management Accountant - CMA. They changed in half way through my program).
Well, the letters were mailed out on Wednesday and I received mine on Thursday. My mom had called me during the day and told me the letter arrived. For the rest of the day, all I could think of was whether the letter offered congratulations or commiseration.

birthday swap with Ariel
Birthday Swap from Ariel
As promised, here's a kawaii post for you! Ariel and I share the same birthday (April 27th) and we decided to do a birthday swap this year! It was really exciting and tons of fun for me to pick out goodies for her. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures of the goods I sent her so we'll have to make do with what she sent me.

I know Valentine's Day was almost a month ago but I figured it's better late than never so here's my little baby post about what I received from Alex on lovers' day.

merry christmas and happy new year! ♪ヽ(๑ᴖ◡ᴖ๑)ノ♪
(‐^▽^‐)
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone! I know I'm late for both but in addition to my usual excuses, I have one that's pretty legitimate. I was without internet since December 16th and only got it back on December 31st. Our modem broke and our internet provider had to send us a new one and was going to upgrade the service to optic fibre at the same time. But with the holidays and everything, it took FOREVER. Needless to say my family was pissed but I had internet at work and at Alex's house so it wasn't too bad. Plus, you get used to not having internet and my siblings and I actually spoke to each other and had a lot of "family time" together, meaning we watched TV and just made plans to do things, which we never really did...ever.

25th birthday
Birthday Cake from my family
Saturday, April 27th, was my birthday. Guess how old I turned!!!! The title of this post makes it obvious and it's not a trick question....
I turned 25! I can't believe it. Even a close family friend (who is retired and living the life in Hong Kong, traveling every couple of months), sent me an e-mail starting with, "Good God, you're 25!" Yup, I can hardly believe it myself.

packages from japan ☆*:.。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆
Package of Kawaii from Japan
Almost a month ago, a friend of mine sent me a message with the kanji for Nagomimakuri and told me that there were a few listings on Yahoo Japan Auctions. I love Nagomimakuri because not only is she extremely adorable, but this character has huge sentimental value to me.

Grand Opening - Sushiibear's Kawaii Emporium!
Now open for business!
Hey everyone! My shop is finally open ☆*:.。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆! I've always wanted to be a shop owner and since I love kawaii, I decided to open up an online kawaii shop. I've been selling off my Flickr for about 7 or 8 months now but I decided to take it to the next level, so to speak. This is more of a project to see if it's actually feasible in the long run before I pursue a physical shop and really start investing in it (business plans and all that jazz).
Also, I will admit that some of the items listed are from my personal collection. But like all collectors, you eventually run out of room (。-_-。)and as hard as it is for me to let go of some of my kawaii goodies, it had to be done. I take very good care of my kawaii and I wouldn't sell them unless they were in excellent condition.
Please have a look and spread the word around!

Happy Chinese New Year - Year of the Snake!
Happy New Year everyone! Today's Chinese New Year and as we say bye bye to the year of the dragon (my year -sob-), we welcome the year of the snake. Hopefully, it'll be a good year for me, especially in the job department since 2012 wasn't that great.
My sister came to visit for the New Year and she arrived on Wednesday and I've been so busy shopping and going out with her I haven't had much time for blogging. Before CNY, there's also a crap load of stuff to do, endless meals with family and friends, before and after the new year.

christmas presents 2012
Wow, look at me, two posts in a week! That hasn't happened in a while. As promised, here are the Christmas presents I received from my awesome family and friends.
Ta-dah! Christmas presents from 2012.
There's a reason why I took a picture of my whole bed (or almost, my back was pressed against the wall and I still couldn't capture all of it). It will be explained in due time.

sumikkogurashi haul
Happy December everyone! You know what that means right? CHRISTMAS!!!! Obviously, there are other holidays around this time but I celebrate Christmas so that's the one that I always think of. Sorry, I had to put in my political correctness or else there's bound to be some people blasting me away for being so insensitive and stuff.
Moving on, I received my super duper amazing ear splitting squeal worthy package from Tamaya about a month ago. I had placed a huge Sumikkogurashi order from them and I've finally had time to share it with you!
My awesome amazing Sumikkogurashi haul!
Isn't it the best? I posted a similar picture on Instagram so those who follow me will have already seen it a while ago.
Sumikkogurashi plushes.
I ordered the larger polar bear plush because it's my favourite one out of all the Sumikkogurashi crew. The kappa is my second favourite which is why I got the keychain/strap version of it and then it's tied with the cat and pork culet. The little weed and the tapioca (pink thing) are little minor characters from the Sumikkogurashi line. I think the only plush they had of those two are the little ones so I was spared from making a decision of which size to get (but I probably would've gotten the small ones anyway).
Little ones all together.
The two bigger ones.
Cellphone plush strap.
Look at the cute little yellow tapioca buddy attached to the strap plush! All the other ones in this size have a little tapioca attached to them too. You can see them here.
Inside tag, with the story of the character, I'm assuming.
Sumikkogurashi Polar Bear!
I love this plush, it's so adorable and it's incredibly soft! The only problem is it's white so I'm a little hesitant about bringing him with him whenever I go out, I'm worried that he'll get dirty and it'll really show. He's a really good size too, maybe about 6" tall? So cuddly and adorable. Definitely my favourite purchase out of the haul.
Butt view, adorable little tail. Yes, I'm obsessed with butt views in case you haven't noticed by now.
Polar Bear Tag.
Inside tag.
If there's another thing that I love about San-x is their tags are also super cute!
Sumikkogurashi Stationary Goods.
Whenever I buy kawaii, it's 99% of the time plushies, because I have a serious addiction to soft and cuddly things. It's not even funny now, I'm running out of space to put this stuff (which is why I'm selling a whole bunch of them, but that's another post).
So you can imagine how much I must LOVE this San-x series to be actually buying stationary goodies! Not only that, I almost NEVER buy pens or pencils because, honestly, who wants to pay $6 for a pen or pencil? Well, I did this time.
Two large Sumikkogurashi memo pads.
Glimpse of the inside.
Sumikkogurashi Pouch.
I love this pouch, it's the perfect size. I can carry all my makeup and crap in this adorable pouch. The material is also pretty cool. It's a soft plastic and it's so smooooooth. Sorry for the crappy description, I'm not good with fabrics so that's as much as I can tell you about it.
Cute Tapioca Zipper Pull!
Pouch Tag. I wonder if it's the same tapioca as the zipper pull? the colour's a little different.
Probably the most expensive pencil I ever paid for.
Last but not least is the pencil. They had pens and pencils for sale but I NEVER buy kawaii pens because you have to throw them out after all the ink is gone and WHO WANTS TO THROW OUT A KAWAII PEN?! But if you don't, it's basically useless, I mean, you can't exactly just fill it up with ink again right? At least for mechanical pencils, you can reuse them again and again. A bit more worth my money.
Face Design.
I hope you liked my Sumikkogurashi collection! I think it was my favourite package within the last month. I'm sorry that I'm not blogging as much as I used to, I started my CMA professional training at the end of October and I'm working full time so I only have time to take pictures during the weekends. I don't like using artificial lighting for my pictures since I find it looks much better with natural light, hence the weekend. Also, during the weekends, I usually go to Alex's house so that cuts into my blogging time too.
I think I'll have even less time to blog now since WE GOT A NEW PUPPY!!! Her name is Okami (Kami for short) and she's the fluffiest, most adorable little akita puppy ever! She's so friendly but Obi doesn't like her (for obvious reasons) but like all puppies, they need constant training and supervision so I'll be busy with that for a while.
And since I'm sharing good news, I'll tell you something else.
I GOT A NEW JOB!!!
Yaaaaaaaay!!!
I've been looking for a new job since the end of August, after my summer vacation since my current one doesn't pay very well and I need job experience related to my field (accounting) to be able to practice as a CMA (Certified Management Accountant), which is the profesional program that I'm currently enrolled in. I applied to a big(ish) retail company and after 3 months and 3 interviews later, I got the job! I was so happy, I almost cried. It's my first "real" job out of university and one that I could possibly make a career out of since they're a big company and it was the BENEFITS that I was really wanting! I'm no longer covered under my dad's insurance since I'm no longer a full time student, so it was goodbye regular oral hygiene checkups, goodbye not paying full price for my glasses. But now it's back, baby and better than ever.
Anyway, so after I gave my old boss my two weeks notice, I was all like
I start December 10th so wish me luck everyone!

❤ mike & christina's wedding
So here's the post that you've all been waiting for....
THE WEDDING POST!!!
Ok, so the wedding was AMAZING! The weather couldn't have been more perfect, it was 22 Celsius, nice and warm but not hot. After a week and a half of rain, it almost seemed as if the weather purposely got better just for them, and why shouldn't it, they're awesome people.
I don't have actual pictures of the bride and groom because I was stuck doing my CMA review until the evening so I wasn't able to attend the ceremony at the church, even though I really wanted to. Instead, I stole a whole bunch of pictures from their wedding photographer. I'm sure he won't mind since he has his watermark on the photos and I'm creating awareness about his business. Enough blah blah from, onward with the pictures!
Christina, the beautiful bride!
Mother & Daughter.
Look at his face! Pure happiness.
The Signing.
Married!
In front of the church.
Father & Daughter
Mike & Christina, the perfect couple!
Wedding Party @ Circuit Jacques Villeneuve.
So now here are the pictures that I took! It took me about two hours to get ready and I wore impossibly high heels. I couldn't walk in them but my legs looked a few miles long! Alex and I made it on time for the reception, which was at the Crown Plaza Hotel. The reception was held both inside and outside. All the food was inside but there was a sitting area outside.
Fresh wood fire baked pizzas
Deep fried section.
Different types of caviar.
Fresh seafood. I'm in heaven!
Look at the size of those lobsters!
Two guys just opening oysters.
Ok, so I've never had oyster before, at least not raw and definitely not the way fancy people do it, the whole slurping it and stuff (although in my opinion, fancy people shouldn't slurp, but what I know, I'm not fancy). I decided to try it even though it looks revolting, you only live once, right? After some instructions from Alex (tilt and slurp), I (barely) managed to gulp the oyster down. It was surprisingly good, tasted like salt water and slimy (if slimy had a taste).
Portion of the bread section. The Italians and Portugese MUST have their bread! I think I'm turning into one of them!
Bread & Parmigiano cheese, proof that Heaven does exist.
Alligator and turtle bread.
Cheese for everyone!
Different cuts of pork. Poor little piglet :(
That was the food available during the reception. There was also a booth or two outside where they were serving grilled meats and veggies. There was grilled lamb chops outside. It was so good! There was so much food available and it was only the reception. I was already comfortable not eating for the rest of the night and supper wasn't even served yet. After we were finished eating, we just wandered around the hotel. Alex made his grandfather put on his sunglasses. The result; Men in Black!
Alex, his grandfather and his brother, J.
Alex's mom, his grandfather and J. His dad is in the background on the right.
It took us about half an hour to 45 mins to get into the hall because the bride and groom, as well as the wedding party were stationed at the entrance and everyone offered their congratulations, one by one. My feet were killing me. I felt like someone chopped off my feet and put stilts on my stubs. Ew.
Once inside, it was gorgeous! Dimmed pink and purple lights everywhere. We were placed at Table 19 but thankfully, we didn't have to wander around aimlessly trying to find it. There was a hotel staff at the entrance and she directed us to our table, not that she needed to. Alex's parents were waving frantically from the table, it looked like they were trying to flag a boat.
Menu for the night.
Toasting champagne, pink to match everything else.
Olive bread, the best type of bread that ever existed
This was delicious. The best part of the supper, tied with the salade.
Sorbet to cleanse your palate.
One of the best salades I've ever had (not that I eat much salade...but still).
They had an amazing sweets table but I didn't take any pictures. It wasn't even a table, it was like...a sweets room. They had cookies in clear cookie jars, biscotti's, candy, poutine (omg, what!?), pogos, cakes, pastries, you name it. But I went about 10 mins after it opened and everything was pretty much gone and it would've been some pretty sad pictures.
Alright, we're getting to the part that all of you have been waiting for....MY DRESS!
Building up a bit of suspense...
TA-DAH!
I tried to find an official picture of it but it doesn't seem to exist. Doesn't matter. It's not the type of dress that I'd normally wear, I usually wear black (or black with some white patterns). I also don't normally wear clothes that really draw attention to myself but this red is really eye catching, even more so since I was pretty much the only person who wore a really bright dress. Although this dress is outside of my comfort zone, I'm glad that I purchased it and wore it to the wedding (I mean it is a wedding, wedding = bright dresses). It's also a dress that I can wear to other parties. Alex loves it (obviously, even if he didn't, he wouldn't exactly say it if he knows what's good for him).
As much as I hate this picture, no, abhor it, I posted it so you can see my dress from top to bottom. I look totally bloated and FAT (I did eat enough for an army or two though). Alex looks like he isn't sure if he should smile or not. This will have to do until someone sends me a better picture of myself. See I put myself through for you guys ;)
We left at around 2:30 AM and by this point, I had been wearing my super high heels for over 8 hours and desperately couldn't wait to take them off for good. I only ended up with one blister on my side of my right food, which disappeared after a day or two. When we got back home, it around 3 and by the time I got undressed and removed all my makeup etc., it was 3:30. I crashed and slept like a baby until I was rudely awakened by Alex singing his mom a mother's day song.
I hope you guys enjoyed the post and that my dress was worth waiting for (even if wasn't, just pretend that it was, I like to feel special)!
