stitch appreciation post

Wow, it's been a long time! A lot has happened since my last update and I'll really quickly go over everything but the main gist of this post is to show my appreciation to Stitch. He's so adorable and what's great about this particular little alien is that he starts off as a total jerk and then he becomes a much better person/alien/dog.

the 10 commandments (from a dog's perspective)

Taken from here

I felt like I just had to share this. There was something about this piece that really spoke to me, probably because I'm a dog owner and animal lover. I believe this applies to all animals and not just dogs. It always breaks my heart and boils me up when I hear about people abandoning their pets because they were too much of a handful or not longer cute, or they simply harm the animal.

#10 really hit the center of my heart. I lost two dogs that have been part of all of my adulthood and most of my childhood recently and I can't even begin to explain the heartbreak and sadness that just consumes you when you realize you have to let them go. I accompanied both dogs to their final visit to the vet and I was extremely distraught and upset that the staff wouldn't let me stay with my dogs until the very end. I always hoped my dogs never felt abandoned in their final moments and that they would feel my presence at the other side of the door, but I've never been sure. I didn't and still don't understand why they wouldn't let me stay with them.

This post is dedicated to my two beautiful babies who have passed on. I miss you both and I love you. I'll see you again, just be patient until then.

belated valentine's day wishes & small tony moly purchases

Happy (late) Valentine's Day Everyone!

From two grumpy dogs

I can't believe it's already been a week since my sister arrived! That was one of the fastest weeks I've experienced in a long time. It's probably because since she arrived, we've been literally going out every day because family/friends wanted to celebrate the New Year with her (and us).

She left Wednesday evening ヘ(゜Д、゜)ノ. The week was such a blur and it was really nice to spend time with her and laugh/giggle over everything. Unfortunately, we were so busy that we didn't even have time to do our Super Smash Bros. Brawl team battle rituals. My sister and I used to play SSB together all the time, we would always be on the same time and we'd get super hyper. I now do it with my brother, which is just as fun, but it's not the same. My brother always kills me once at least every round for starters.

christmas presents 2012

Wow, look at me, two posts in a week! That hasn't happened in a while. As promised, here are the Christmas presents I received from my awesome family and friends.

Ta-dah! Christmas presents from 2012.

There's a reason why I took a picture of my whole bed (or almost, my back was pressed against the wall and I still couldn't capture all of it). It will be explained in due time.

Close up.

welcome home, okami!

We brought home our adorable little Akita puppy on Sunday, November 25th. Her breeder was all the way in Niagara Falls, which is a 8 hour drive from where we live, so it was pretty much a day trip. I didn't go because I didn't want to be sitting for the whole day while mother nature was still staying during her monthly visits (TMI? I figure that most of my readers are female so they can relate).

But I got the house to myself, which NEVER happens, ever. I can't remember the last it did. I also didn't have a stupid and long CMA assignment to due that week so it was pure bliss. Except for the fact that Alex's mom invited me out to lunch with them and we spent half the day eating and basically, me not being home alone with Obi. I know I sound totally ungrateful but it's so rare for me to have the house all to myself that it's like finding the mythical unicorn after you've been searching for it all your life. I accepted her invitation to lunch because I didn't want to be rude (but I guess complaining about it after, and during, in my head, isn't any better...) since I didn't have any excuses.

sumikkogurashi haul

Happy December everyone! You know what that means right? CHRISTMAS!!!! Obviously, there are other holidays around this time but I celebrate Christmas so that's the one that I always think of. Sorry, I had to put in my political correctness or else there's bound to be some people blasting me away for being so insensitive and stuff.

Moving on, I received my super duper amazing ear splitting squeal worthy package from Tamaya about a month ago. I had placed a huge Sumikkogurashi order from them and I've finally had time to share it with you!

My awesome amazing Sumikkogurashi haul!

Isn't it the best? I posted a similar picture on Instagram so those who follow me will have already seen it a while ago.

Sumikkogurashi plushes.

I ordered the larger polar bear plush because it's my favourite one out of all the Sumikkogurashi crew. The kappa is my second favourite which is why I got the keychain/strap version of it and then it's tied with the cat and pork culet. The little weed and the tapioca (pink thing) are little minor characters from the Sumikkogurashi line. I think the only plush they had of those two are the little ones so I was spared from making a decision of which size to get (but I probably would've gotten the small ones anyway).

Little ones all together.

The two bigger ones.

Cellphone plush strap.

Look at the cute little yellow tapioca buddy attached to the strap plush! All the other ones in this size have a little tapioca attached to them too. You can see them here.

Inside tag, with the story of the character, I'm assuming.

Sumikkogurashi Polar Bear!

I love this plush, it's so adorable and it's incredibly soft! The only problem is it's white so I'm a little hesitant about bringing him with him whenever I go out, I'm worried that he'll get dirty and it'll really show. He's a really good size too, maybe about 6" tall? So cuddly and adorable. Definitely my favourite purchase out of the haul.

Butt view, adorable little tail. Yes, I'm obsessed with butt views in case you haven't noticed by now.

Polar Bear Tag.

Inside tag.

If there's another thing that I love about San-x is their tags are also super cute!

Sumikkogurashi Stationary Goods.

Whenever I buy kawaii, it's 99% of the time plushies, because I have a serious addiction to soft and cuddly things. It's not even funny now, I'm running out of space to put this stuff (which is why I'm selling a whole bunch of them, but that's another post).

So you can imagine how much I must LOVE this San-x series to be actually buying stationary goodies! Not only that, I almost NEVER buy pens or pencils because, honestly, who wants to pay $6 for a pen or pencil? Well, I did this time.

Two large Sumikkogurashi memo pads.

Glimpse of the inside.

Sumikkogurashi Pouch.

I love this pouch, it's the perfect size. I can carry all my makeup and crap in this adorable pouch. The material is also pretty cool. It's a soft plastic and it's so smooooooth. Sorry for the crappy description, I'm not good with fabrics so that's as much as I can tell you about it.

Cute Tapioca Zipper Pull!

Pouch Tag. I wonder if it's the same tapioca as the zipper pull? the colour's a little different.

Probably the most expensive pencil I ever paid for.

Last but not least is the pencil. They had pens and pencils for sale but I NEVER buy kawaii pens because you have to throw them out after all the ink is gone and WHO WANTS TO THROW OUT A KAWAII PEN?! But if you don't, it's basically useless, I mean, you can't exactly just fill it up with ink again right? At least for mechanical pencils, you can reuse them again and again. A bit more worth my money.

Face Design.

I hope you liked my Sumikkogurashi collection! I think it was my favourite package within the last month. I'm sorry that I'm not blogging as much as I used to, I started my CMA professional training at the end of October and I'm working full time so I only have time to take pictures during the weekends. I don't like using artificial lighting for my pictures since I find it looks much better with natural light, hence the weekend. Also, during the weekends, I usually go to Alex's house so that cuts into my blogging time too.

I think I'll have even less time to blog now since WE GOT A NEW PUPPY!!! Her name is Okami (Kami for short) and she's the fluffiest, most adorable little akita puppy ever! She's so friendly but Obi doesn't like her (for obvious reasons) but like all puppies, they need constant training and supervision so I'll be busy with that for a while.

And since I'm sharing good news, I'll tell you something else.

I GOT A NEW JOB!!!

Yaaaaaaaay!!!

I've been looking for a new job since the end of August, after my summer vacation since my current one doesn't pay very well and I need job experience related to my field (accounting) to be able to practice as a CMA (Certified Management Accountant), which is the profesional program that I'm currently enrolled in. I applied to a big(ish) retail company and after 3 months and 3 interviews later, I got the job! I was so happy, I almost cried. It's my first "real" job out of university and one that I could possibly make a career out of since they're a big company and it was the BENEFITS that I was really wanting! I'm no longer covered under my dad's insurance since I'm no longer a full time student, so it was goodbye regular oral hygiene checkups, goodbye not paying full price for my glasses. But now it's back, baby and better than ever.

Anyway, so after I gave my old boss my two weeks notice, I was all like

I start December 10th so wish me luck everyone!

R.I.P. Filly boy

Filly, back in 2010.

My family and I made a difficult decision this Friday (two days ago). We decided that it time to say goodbye to Filly, after 17 years of companionship and unconditional love. In the past 8 months or so, Filly's health had rapidly deteriorated. He lost most of his strength and couldn't go up and down the stairs and had to be carried, he had lost his appetite and was reduced to skin and bones (something that's really serious for a dog that had always been really fat, almost obese). Not only that, but one of each of his front and back paws was positioned at a crooked angle, making it difficult for him to walk around.

But despite all those problems, Filly kept on going. There were periods of time during the past 3 years when we thought his time was up but each time, he proved us wrong. He just kept on going, no matter how much the odds were against him. But this time, we decided that enough was enough, it wasn't fair to keep him with us when he was suffering. Filly deserved to be at peace.

Christmas 2008, when Filly was healthy and fat.

We brought him to the vet this afternoon, and on our way there, I cried the whole way. I tried not to, I believe that dogs can sense someone else's emotions, which is why they're always there to comfort you when you're feeling down and they're really happy, when you are too. I didn't want my negative energy to affect his final moments, but I couldn't help myself. I raised this him from puppyhood until now and as cheesy as it sounds, he's my best friend.

I still remember the day my parents brought him home. I had no idea that he was coming home to us. It was a cold day in January and I had just finished school. I was bundled up from head to toe in winter gear and I spotted our red Previa. I waddled my way to the car and in my mom's lap in the passenger seat, was a dark brown bundle of fur. It was a surprise gift from my parents.

Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of Filly when he was a puppy but I can tell you I fell in love. He was sassy, stubborn and rude, acted as if he owned the whole house right the beginning. But I loved him, and took care of him, I sang him songs while he slept on my leg and I told him stories about my day. He was there when my first boyfriend broke up with me over a decade ago, and he was there when my grandfather passed away 3 years ago, always patient and always comforting.

During Filly's shaggy days.

There's one memory of Filly that I remember really well. I was in 5th grade and my teacher had read horrifyingly scary Halloween stories to us in class. That night, I had nightmares and was afraid to sleep alone. I crept into my parents room and slept on the floor, next to my parent's bed. When I fell asleep, I had another nightmare and when I woke up, there was a large shadow looming over my face. I almost yelled out loud before I realized that Filly was centimeters away from my face, looking at me. I pushed him away and to my surprise (and delight), he lay down next to me for the rest of the night.

He was undoubtedly part of the family and was very much loved. But when he had to share that love and attention with another dog, he was a good sport about it. We brought home Yoshi, our beautiful akita about 3 or 4 years after Filly's arrival. Despite the size difference, they became friends and always looked out for each other, Filly being outspoken and loud, while Yoshi would silently observe and intervene if anything (or one) showed any signs of a threat to Filly.

Christmas 2008, with Yoshi.

Brother's birthday, 2010.

My birthday, 2010.

Shortly after Yoshi's passing in 2010, Filly had to share the spotlight with another dog yet again. Obi was brought home in March, 2011 and had been trying to convince Filly that they were best buddies ever since. Filly, being much older, wasn't interested in playing with a young pup with no manners. Filly, once again, became a mentor to another puppy.

I think Filly taught Obi well.

Nap time.

And Obi reciprocated Filly's kindness, during the past few months, when Filly had difficulty getting up, Obi would use his nose to push Filly up and push him to help him walk. When Filly was still asleep when someone was eating in the kitchen, Obi would go and bother him, to have Filly chase him to the kitchen, where we'd give some table scraps to Filly (even though Obi never received any himself). It's amazing how humans are the only ones capable of showing kindess and love.

When we arrived at the vet's, we waited about 20 mins in the car before Filly's number was called. Everyone, except my mom, went inside. As my dad handed Filly over to the nurse, my eyes were brimming with tears and I began to hyperventilate but I cradled his head, kissed him and whispered that he's a good dog before leaving the room.

I don't know why they don't let you stay with your dog when they're administrating the shot. I didn't want to leave Filly alone with the nurse and doctor, both who are people he didn't know, especially since I was afraid that his last thoughts were going to be that we abandoned him. I wanted to be with him while they were giving him his shot, to tell him that I was still here and that I'll be with him until the end. But I wasn't allowed to. Instead, I was outside the door, crying hysterically and hyperventilating.

After what felt like years, the nurse came outside and told us that he was at peace. There he was, on a metal table, exactly as I had seen him a thousand times, but he wasn't there anymore. I petted his head and said goodbye for the final time.

I had arrived home about an hour and a half ago, and I still can't believe that Filly's gone. It seems weird to not see him on one of our many rugs, to no longer hear his paws make that clicky sound whenever he walks. I'll never be able to run my hands through his coarse fur again, feed him table scraps or feel the warmth of his body pressed to mine when we're both asleep and dreaming. He'll never greet me at the door again when I come home and he'll never come running when I call his name.

But all good things must come to end. Even though you're gone, I'll never forget you. Thank you for being my companion and my greatest friend, for always sticking by me, for all the memories and for all the laughter. You've always been a good dog and I can only hope that I've filled your life with as happiness as you've filled mine. You're reunited with Yoshi now and I'll see both of you again.

Forever rest in peace, Filly.

I love you, boy boy.

hiatus announcement

Rosco & Homekoro Hate Studying Too (Old pic but who cares).

I hate to do this but this blog is going to be on hiatus. I have way too much to study for my CMA exam in June (omg, it's in a week and a half!) which means that I won't have any time to blog. I don't know if I'll have time to make a post before I leave for Asia (the day after my CMA exam), especially since I'll probably be running around celebrating the fact that my exam is over (and hopefully feeling that I passed) and picking up last minute items for my trip. I'll try my best to make a few posts during my trip, (especially about all the kawaii I see/buy OMG SO EXCITING!) but I make no promises. If not, enjoy the summer and I'll talk to you all at the end of July!

P.S. Buy lots of kawaii while I'm gone! XD

nemunekos everywhere

As promised, here are some of the kawaii that I received at the end of my semester and during my exams. I decided to start with all the Nemunekos that arrived because everyone likes nemunekos. The first two nemunekos I received about 3 weeks ago. They're two large ones that I ordered off eBay back in January, JANUARY! It took them over 2 months to arrive and I was freaking out because I thought they had gotten lost in the mail. They were being delivered from Singapore by surface mail, but still, TWO MONTHS! But the important thing is they finally arrived.

Ta-da! Aren't they precious?

The gianormous fatso in mine and the fuzzy white one is my sister's. We were so happy and really excited that they finally arrived. We were extremely pleased with them but I wouldn't say it was worth the wait since it's TWO months! I'd say one month is most I'd be willing to wait for it, especially since Paypal only has a 45 day dispute policy, where you can open a dispute with the seller within 45 days of the transaction.

Nemuneko tails, I like the stubby one better but the furry one's design is nicer. If only they could be combined.

Both kitties wanted to fish for some sushi, but they failed.

Next, are the smaller ones that I received about a week ago. I couldn't even enjoy them when they arrived since I had to study for my finals but I did get to see just how adorable they were before throwing them on my desk to resume studying.

A pile of baby nemunekos

Each one has a little rodent attached to them...like a tumour. Although it's extremely cute, I don't know why they attached a rodent to the side of each nemuneko since you can't detach it (unless you cut it off) or pull it to reveal a string. It's just...there. But each rodent is different for each nemuneko and there are two varieties; a mouse and a hamster.

Sorry for the ugly picture, the weather's crappy outside so it's hard to get proper lighting.

A nicer picture of the four smaller nemunekos

Full grey and calico nemunekos

Front full grey

Side full grey

For some reason, it's only the full grey that has a hamster. Every other nemuneko has a mouse attached to them. Maybe this one has a particular appetite for hamsters? I hope not! The poor hamsters ;__________; The poor mice too! ;______________________; I just hope it's their preference in friends! Not that they should limit their friends based on the type of rodent, that'd be rodent...ism?

Front calico

Side calico

I have an extra nemuneko calico for sale is anyone is interested! Leave a comment with your contact information for more details :)

White with grey ears and black nemunekos

Front grey with white ears

Side white with grey ears

I really like this one, I think it's my favourite out of all four. The black mouse is really cute too! I think a close second would be the full grey but the hamster isn't as cute as the mouse, which is what kind of diminished it to second place XD.

Front black

Side black

Again, I really like the white mouse on this one. The mouse is just so adorable!

All together, piled high

Here they all are, piled on top of each other. I always thought that the nemunekos were flat and that it'd be easy to stack them on top of one another but it turns out, they're not flat at all. They're kind of convexed, so they're a little pointy at the bottom.

Finally, here's a behind the scenes picture of the photoshoot. It wouldn't be complete without Obi lurking in the background! Excuse the messiness, I had put all the nemunekos in that bag to bring them to living room and to prevent Obi from stealing one when I wasn't looking.
