shop announcement (and apology for no posts)

Happy New Year everyone! I hope the beginning of 2015 has been good to you so far. I've been extremely busy with the renovations of our new place and of the course, that week and a half during the holidays is a good excuse as any not to do anything (I tried to do nothing but didn't really work out that way).

This is just a short shop announcement, lame I know but I'll have a proper post hopefully today. If not today, then next week for sure.

Please also spread the word as many other Storenvy shop owners are having difficulties with Stripe. It's not the shop owners' fault as Storenvy decided to force everyone to have this system. We as store owners try our best to provide the best customer service and Stripe will slow everything down so please just pay by Paypal. Otherwise, we'll have to wait for the payment to be cleared and/or wait for Stripe to get involved which will take a long time and we cannot ship your package until then. Thank you for your time and understanding!

For those of you who aren't aware, here's the link to my shop. I've added tons of new items and more will be listed soon!

back from australia and some news

Hey everyone so I arrived home from Australia on November 21st. Australia is beautiful with gorgeous weather and it was just a breath of fresh air. For 3 weeks, I didn't think about work and was completely stress free!

I'll be making a few individual posts about my Australia trip but here's a little sneak peak of the beautiful country (in no particular order).

Guess where this is?

recent health issues

Hey everyone! Sorry I've disappeared yet again, I've been experiencing a lot of health problems over the past few weeks. But I'm finally getting better so hopefully, I'll be able to start blogging more often again! I apologize for neglecting my blog for so long.

That was me except a million times worse.

be back soon!

Stole this picture off this blog (because I'm too lazy and busy to make my own)

Just to let everyone know, I haven't forgotten about my blog! My professional program is almost over (my presentation is on June 8th in the AM) and I'll have a million things to post about. Please continue to be patient with me, I'll guarantee it'll be worth it!

I still update my Instagram (rarely but more than my blog) so you can still get sneak peeks of some of the kawaii I've been getting.

In the mean time, enjoy these cute pictures I stole off the internet.

weight loss blues

Sorry everyone, this isn't going to be a kawaii post so all you kawaii readers can ignore this post and wait for the next one.

Some of you may know that I've been trying to lose weight for...ever. Ok, not really forever, but ever since I gained a lot of weight, too much weight to go uncorrected. I gained about 20 pounds in 1 year and a half (or a year and 3/4. Whatever, the point is, I gained a lot of weight in less than 2 years). That's a lot of freakin' weight!

bye bye smells like sushi (。´⌒`。)

Hey everyone,

I'm sadden to say I'm going to close my blog. I finished my CMA assignment on Friday and I realized that I really need to dedicate more time to prepare for my exam in May. Also, with my full-time job, I really doubt I'll have much time to blog. I tried to make a post this long weekend and I couldn't even do that because of the amount of work I have piled up.

It seems pointless to keep a blog going when there's hardly any updates so it's with a heavy heart that I'm going to close my blog. Thank you to all my friends, readers, and supporters.

Farewell, friends

hello kitty x forever 21: hello kitty forever pt.2

So I was (still) obsessively checking the Forever 21 website to just stare at the Hello Kitty Forever collection (talk about creepy and...loser-ish right?) instead of working on my really important CMA assignment that's due Friday.

I then checked Hello Kitty Junkie's website to see what she wrote about this fashion cuteness. As I was scrolling through her pictures, it was then I realized this awful horrible truth.

CANADA FOREVER21 DOESN'T OFFER THE WHOLE HK FOREVER COLLECTION.

Mr. Bean agrees with this unfairness.

So Canada Forever21 doesn't even stock half of the complete hello kitty forever collection. What's even worse is that most of the items that aren't stocked, are the ones that I actually want!

Who wouldn't want a sweater of Bad Badtz Maru punching someone? It's totally therapeutic since you'll be imagining that he's punching someone you can't personally punch yourself, most probably as you're talking to them.

This geeky chibi Hello Kitty t-shirt is too cute! Luckily, it's also not one of those stupid shortened t-shirts where the bottom of the shirt ends up precariously close to revealing your mid-riff (and it usually does when you stretch or you know...move). I don't know about you guys, but I don't have a super sexy ripped mid-riff nor one that I'm comfortable showing off. The fact that this t-shirt is a proper t-shirt makes me happy.

Back View.

Totally loving this one! It's more pink that my usual tastes but you should always have a bit of variety in your wardrobe right? The little mouse on the side is an adorable touch :)

I actually really like the back.

And of course, they have a pretty simple Hangydon sweater, for your more silly days. How can anyone be sad after seeing this?

These two flip flops are the best! I don't know why but Forever21 seems to be really trying to make a come back with Hangydon, not that I'm complaining, who can resist this cute (and somewhat weird) looking little guy? But the quality of these flip flops look really crappy but for $5, what do you expect? I'd be surprised if they lasted for more than a month. Maybe I'll just buy them to wear at home (and pray that Obi won't develop a liking to chewing them).

Look.at.this. In addition to be the most fabulously kawaii dressed person, you can also have the most fabulously kawaii bed. I love the pillow case but I'm not too crazy about the sheets, it's a really cute design but I don't want it as my sheets.

This knit pillow is awesome. I can totally picture it on my couch but the problem is, Scout, our rabbit is allowed to roam around me and my brother's place (the upstairs of our duplex) and she has a horrible tendency of chewing on pillows (she even chewed Alex's leather jacket). Given the choice, I wouldn't even let her touch my couch because her fur gets all over it and it's a lot of work to vacuum the couch to restore it to its original rabbit-hair-free state. But my mom, who obviously wouldn't have a clue about how annoying it is to have a rabbit roam around the house (she lives downstairs), said that it would be "mean." Maybe I should suggest a compromise with her, Scout can roam the upstairs, but she'll be the one doing the vacuuming.

Forever 21 even makes throwing out your garbage a kawaii experience.

Last but not least is this super chococat beanie hat. I wouldn't get this since I already have a really cute Knitwit animal hat, but I just wanted to post it up and show you.

I calculated it, and if I got all the clothes listed here, plus the two flip flops, it'll set me back by $84.80 plus tax. Not bad, not bad at all.

Any more F21 Hello Kitty Forever items you want to add to your wishlist?

halloween costume dilemma

First off, I want to thank everyone who had sent me comforting messages concerning Filly's passing. I really appreciate that you took the time to write them. It's still hard but every passing day, it gets a bit easier. Thank you.

Well, it's already October and with October comes Halloween! Unlike last year, I'm invited to a Halloween party this year! Not one, but two (my popularity must be increasing)!

But with Halloween parties always comes the Halloween costume. I'm not sure if I'm the only one with this problem (and I'm sure I'm not) but I have no idea what to be. The only problem with attending Halloween parties is there's always some pressure to dress up as something (or someone) totally cool.

The dreaded question.

Originally, I wanted to be a cat but it's not...original. Almost at every Halloween party, there's going to be a cat. The reason I wanted to dress up as a cat was because it's easy (just wear black, colour your nose and draw some whiskers) and I found some cute cat ears when I was in Japan. I found them on ebay (or something like them) and it's pretty cheap.

Some of them even start at $0.01 with free shipping, like this one.

Some of them include a tail, collar and even cat paws but I'm not too crazy about the cat paws because it'll be such a pain to put them on and take them off the whole night.

There's been a lot of Halloween costume shops popping up these past few weeks with Halloween approaching and all. I've gone into some of them for some inspiration but there's one critical problem with all the costumes for women. They're all so revealing.

Now, I understand the point of Halloween is to be something you're not but maybe I just want to be a cow and not a provocative cow who wants every guy (not only bulls) to have my baby cows.

This isn't that bad...

BE WARNED, THIS IS NEXT PICTURE IS PRETTY REVEALING!

Compared to this...-douses eyes with bleach-

Not that it's a bad thing if you want to go as a semi-nudist -insert whatever here-. I just think that Halloween costume companies should have a more variety of costumes when it comes to the level of nakedness in a woman's Halloween costume, for those of us who aren't so keen (or confident) on displaying our body to the world.

It seems like costumes need to be really short and/or tight, so that you'll obtain maximum cleavage to the point where your girls are just dying to get out and show the world just how wonderful they are.

I'm sure Hermione's uniform wasn't like that...

Different combinations of requirements for female Halloween costumes.

What is this? I don't even...

Not even Hello Kitty is safe...although it's a bit more tame than other costumes that I've seen, but still.

Sexy Hello Kitty costume,

Sexy Chococat costume.

The worse part is I actually like some of these revealing costumes. I like the way it looks but I would never be able to wear something like that because I'm not comfortable with exposing so much skin. But what I'd really like to be is something that would use masquerade masks. I saw some at one of the Halloween stores and I fell in love with them, they're so beautiful!

Unfortunately, I tried one of these one and it made me look cross-eyed.

But I looked a lot better when wearing of these for some reason.

The only thing that I can think of I can dress up as that uses these beautiful masks is a masquerade ballroom dancer but those costumes require a lot of time and/or money, both of which I don't have. I would honestly much rather be something that uses those masks than a cat but if worst comes to worst...I can be a masquerading cat and get the dreaded question at both my Halloween parties.

What are you dressing up as for Halloween? More importantly, what I should I go as? Suggestions are more than welcome!

hiatus announcement

Rosco & Homekoro Hate Studying Too (Old pic but who cares).

I hate to do this but this blog is going to be on hiatus. I have way too much to study for my CMA exam in June (omg, it's in a week and a half!) which means that I won't have any time to blog. I don't know if I'll have time to make a post before I leave for Asia (the day after my CMA exam), especially since I'll probably be running around celebrating the fact that my exam is over (and hopefully feeling that I passed) and picking up last minute items for my trip. I'll try my best to make a few posts during my trip, (especially about all the kawaii I see/buy OMG SO EXCITING!) but I make no promises. If not, enjoy the summer and I'll talk to you all at the end of July!

P.S. Buy lots of kawaii while I'm gone! XD

solar/sora bear

I aboslutely adore this character designed by Japanese artist, Shinzi Katoh. It's called Solar Bear or Sora Bear as the Japanese call it.

Sora & Bea.

Although the characters are supremely cute, the story behind Solar Bear is very sad. It's about two polar bears, an older brother and a younger brother and here's their story.

"Far away at the North Pole live two polar bear brothers. The Older one is named Bea, the younger one, Sora. Bea and Sora are crying. The two brothers got separated from their mother after the temperature of the Earth's surface rose, causing ice cap at the North Pole to melt and gaps to open up in the ice. They are determined to find their mother one day, so that they can live together as a family again. Bea and Sora are the main characters in a children's book about global warming. They are the creation on worldrenowned Japanese designer Shinzi Katoh. "
Taken from Sorabea FB Group.

IS THAT NOT SUPREMELY SAD!? I've always been conscientious about the environment even as a kid. I tried hard not to waste anything and even berated my family for wasting electricity and water. I also go around the house turning off the lights when there's no one in a room (to my mom's annoyance since she always claims that she just left for a second to get something). I turn off the water when I'm putting shampoo/conditioner/soap/cleanser etc and only turn it back on when I need to rinse. I'm also an Olympic showerer, I finish my shampooing, conditioning and..soaping(?) in less than 5 mins.

It really angers me when people don't care about the environment and don't even try to protect it. It's not hard to throw something in the garbage instead of just throwing it wherever you feel like it because you're a fat lazy stupid ignorant dick. Even worse when it's someone you know. I know someone, who will remain anonymous, who is a champion waster and although it's not my place to lecture him about it, it urks me every time I hear the water running uninterrupted for minutes on end or when I see a lot of uneaten food left of his plate. If you can't finish it, don't take so much, or pack it up as leftovers instead of throwing it in the trash!

People like that make me....

Anyway, rant over, back to Solar Bear. To increase awareness about the environmental problems that we are facing and to encourage the future generation to prevent environmental issues from escalating, The Sorabea Foundation was created. The foundation adopted the polar bears as their mascot and it encourages children to think about their impact on the environment and to help put a stop to global warming.

:(

The Solar Bear also has a line of products, although most of them are mostly used for the home, or zakka. Products include teapots and towels. According to the fb group, all Solar Bear products are subject to the 6% royalty of which 10% is donated to environmental conservation efforts. In Japan, the donations go to the Sorabea Foudation.

Cute Little Mug.

So not only do you get these super kawaii items, but you'll be helping the environment and Sora and Bea find their mother and conserve their home! I found out about these two poor babies sometime last year when a friend of mine were selling the plushes, I bought two of them and I've been on the lookout for more Solar Bear items ever since. I'll upload a picture of it later since I'm not at home right now.

I'd love this card holder.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like there are that many Solar Bear products out there. The ones that are available are pretty expensive, at least to ship it to me. I saw this really beautiful iPhone 4s case that I really wanted, but it would cost be over $45 to have it shipped to me. I'll try my luck when I'm in Japan this summer, hopefully, it'll be cheaper.

Sora & Bea iPhone 4s Case. This is going on my super wishlist.

I should've bought this when I had the chance.

I'd love this deco tape but I can't bring myself to pay $8 for one.

Not only do they have super kawaii products for these two bears, but they also have a statue of them at Aqua City Odaiba in Tokyo.

Their tears light up.

I will be sure to pay these two a visit when I'm in Tokyo, hopefully, I'll be able to find Solar Bear products for much cheaper there too. But since Japan is expensive anyway, it's entirely possible that the prices won't be too different from what I'd have to pay right now.

Help Them Find Their Mommy!

Good luck finding your mom, little babies. Hopefully, you'll be able to find her soon.

[edit] I just saw this video and it made me T______________________T. It wouldn't let me embed unfortunately but you have to watch it. Help those poor babies find their mom! And omg, those little seals!
