cpa, cma results

As some of you know, I've been working towards getting my Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation (previously known as Certified Management Accountant - CMA. They changed in half way through my program).

Well, the letters were mailed out on Wednesday and I received mine on Thursday. My mom had called me during the day and told me the letter arrived. For the rest of the day, all I could think of was whether the letter offered congratulations or commiseration.

be back soon!

Stole this picture off this blog (because I'm too lazy and busy to make my own)

Just to let everyone know, I haven't forgotten about my blog! My professional program is almost over (my presentation is on June 8th in the AM) and I'll have a million things to post about. Please continue to be patient with me, I'll guarantee it'll be worth it!

I still update my Instagram (rarely but more than my blog) so you can still get sneak peeks of some of the kawaii I've been getting.

In the mean time, enjoy these cute pictures I stole off the internet.

guess who's back?

I'm back from my 5 week vacation in Asia! Did you miss me? It was such an amazing trip (despite hating China but that's another story) but I'm very glad to be home. We arrived in Montreal at around 9:15 PM and I was back home at around 10 PM.

Alex's family was already waiting for us at the baggage claim and his mom excitedly squealed and ran over before I even knew what was happening (I only had 6 hours of very uncomfortable sleep and for those of you who know me, I.need.my.8.hours.of.sleep.). She was very sweet and had bought two helium balloons for us. Mine was the Hello Kitty one and Alex's just said, "Welcome Back." She told me that they didn't have plushies so she thought the HK balloon was the next best thing. I was touched that she even bought me a balloon.

I'll be double posting today -gasp- but the posts will be in order of my trip, so sorry to disappoint kawaii lovers but don't worry, Japan and all its kawaii and awesomeness will have the most coverage ;)

The order of my trip was like this:
  1. Shanghai, China
  2. Guangzhou, China (which I'll only mention in a few paragraphs.)
  3. Hong Kong, China
  4. Tokyo, Japan (OMG!!!)
  5. Beijing, China
Oh and guess what?

I PASSED MY CMA EXAM!!!!

My reaction except with a lot of screaming.

Found out on my last day in Beijing. The CMA Order sent me an e-mail saying that the results of the entrance exam were posted online and instead of getting ready for breakfast and the rest of the day, I checked my e-mails and waited anxiously for the results.

I just passed but mind you, it was a freggin' hard exam. I had to guess the last 10 questions.

As you can probably tell, I have a bit of jet lag, why else would I be up at 6 in the morning updating my blog (as much as I love you guys). I guess it's a good thing, since I have a lot of unpacking to do (something that's on my 10 top worse things to do list).

Next post, Shanghai!

hiatus announcement

Rosco & Homekoro Hate Studying Too (Old pic but who cares).

I hate to do this but this blog is going to be on hiatus. I have way too much to study for my CMA exam in June (omg, it's in a week and a half!) which means that I won't have any time to blog. I don't know if I'll have time to make a post before I leave for Asia (the day after my CMA exam), especially since I'll probably be running around celebrating the fact that my exam is over (and hopefully feeling that I passed) and picking up last minute items for my trip. I'll try my best to make a few posts during my trip, (especially about all the kawaii I see/buy OMG SO EXCITING!) but I make no promises. If not, enjoy the summer and I'll talk to you all at the end of July!

P.S. Buy lots of kawaii while I'm gone! XD

undergraduate completion!

I apologize that I haven't been updating much lately. The end of the semester was looming ahead so all my projects and assignments were due at the same time and I had all my finals to study for. But my last final was Monday night so you know what that means! I'm freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! And I just finished my undergraduate program!!!!

Who wants to join me?

I don't think it's actually hit me that I finished my university program, even though it's been 2 and a half days. In my mind, I still need to go back to school...which is kind of true for my CMA program but that's more part time. I think I need to go out and have a big celebration for it to really sink it.

Preferably one with lots of champagne showers.

You're probably all thinking, "But that was 3 nights ago! You should've made a post on Tuesday and it's now THURSDAY!!!!!! You lazy bum!" -cue those old school Batman fight scenes, with exclamation texts like, "Pow!" "Smack!"-

But but but but...I was enjoying my newfound freedom T_T! I only have a week to rest before I start studying for my huge CMA entrance exam on June 13th, which is the day before I leave for Asia! This exam tests you on everything you've learnt during your accounting major at uni, so it's a lot of material to study for. I deserve this break!

You said it.

I went shopping with my mom on Tuesday to find a dress for Alex's cousin's wedding in May. From what I'm hearing, it's going to be wedding of the year or something. That side of his family always has fancy parties so despite having several nice dresses, I had to get another one since they've seen me in all of my nicer dresses.

Possible choices..... ;)

Surprisingly, I found a dress! My mom and I went to BCBG, our go-to place for dresses and after trying on about 7 dresses, I was down to 4 of them. One of them didn't have my size, so now we're down to 3. One was super expensive so that one was out of the running. The two that I was torn between were the same price X-X. I must've tried those two dresses on about 3 times each, but I finally decided on one (everyone said that one looked better than me, including my mom and two saleswomen, how can you argue with that?).

None of my dresses actually look liked those...

The reason I haven't told you what colour and the style of the dress is because I told Alex that I wasn't going to show him the dress until the day of the wedding since he always wants to know what I'm wearing beforehand (don't know why) so I decided that it'd be a surprise, yay! Although, I don't think he reads or checks my blog, you never be too sure....so I'm sorry readers, looks like you won't find out until after the wedding. It's Alex's fault, you should blame him XD.

I received TONS of kawaii during the last stretch of my semester and during my finals so I'll have lots to show you guys in the future!

feeling blue...

I've been feeling really depressed over the past couple of days although I'm not entirely sure why. But I've been thinking about yesterday and a bit of today, and I think I've narrowed down why I've been so blue lately.

As some of you know, I'm graduating this spring and am in my final semester at school. After graduation, I'm going to apply to become a Certified Management Accountant (CMA). It's an accounting designation and you get to be all fancy and get paid more, and get a higher position (theoretically speaking). But seriously, you analyze the financial data and then suggest and implement strategic decisions for the company, in a nutshell.

Although it's what I want to do and I believe that it'll be beneficial for me to get this designation, the program is very expensive. It's going to cost me $75 + tax to apply to the Order (it's regulated by the Order of Certified Management Accountants of Quebec). If I get in (which I'm positive I will), it's going to cost $500 for the entrance exam (you can only write the exam if you're a member of the Order). Finally, the leadership training program is....$6000. At the end of the training program, you make a huge presentation on your case analysis with your group in front of members of the Order. In total, the CMA designation is going to cost me about $6600, and that's if I pass everything on the first shot.

Waaaah! I'm so sorry piggy T__________T

Normally, this wouldn't be a huge problem but since I paid for half my CMA coaching seminars (about $600), paid for my tuition ($1400) and have paid for my flights, tours and hotels for Asia (few thousand), my bank account is looking a little empty right about now. Not to mention that for our family Cuba trip, I have to pay for that well. And there's also the actual spending in Asia too (I'm going to Tokyo and that is the motherland of kawaii so...yeah).

Initially, I was trying sell some of my kawaii so that I could use those funds to pay for some of my travel expenses and it did work for a while since people were buying (I was able to renew my passport and I am about halfway to getting my Chinese Visa), but now it has completely halted. I may need to get rid of my really special ones in hopes that people will buy, which is something that I really hope I won't have to do.

Another reason is because one of my group projects for this semester is really demanding and it's constantly on my mind. I'm with a group of 10 people and it's seriously not productive when there's that many people crammed together in a board room. It gets worse when we've been there for a few hours and we start getting tired. This project is basically a practice run for our actual CMA, we present our case analysis to members of management from various companies including the company the case is based on (they're actually having these problems in real time).

Our meetings usually end up like this, with people not paying attention. I should try this method.

Even looking at kawaii doesn't make me feel better (now THAT's something I never thought could happen!).

Even looking at this didn't make me feel better. Although it's really cute and now I want one, especially the brown one. Arpakassos, stop being so cute!

It doesn't help that I get paid peanuts at my current job, even though I am doing actual accounting work. My friends keep telling me to ask for a raise but we're a charity so I'm surprised I'm getting paid at all. I also feel that what I'm not getting in salary, I am getting in experience, which is what I really need to get into bigger companies. I also don't have a job lined-up for when I graduate but I know that certainly don't want to stay here. My boss' husband has a bookkeeping office and she told me to apply there. Hopefully, I will get hired but most importantly, I'm hoping her husband's office will pay for some of my CMA fees (since a lot of companies do that). But it's a small company so I'm not holding my breath.

There's also no point for me to look for a job right now since I'll be gone for two months during the summer, plus a week off when I'm going to Cuba with my family in August. I can't exactly tell my potential employer that I can only work for 2 months (when school is done in April), take 3 months off and then start in September. So it's hard for me to fix my poor piggy bank.

On a somewhat unrelated note, I was googling pictures of sad puppies for this post and I just made myself feel worst because those pictures are heart wretching! I won't be doing that again. Lesson learnt.

Instead, here's a picture of Obi with the cone of shame. This was taken after he was fixed.

Enough with this long boohoo post. I have kickboxing tonight so maybe a couple of punches and kicks will snap me out of this self-pitying party. Next couple of posts will be SUPER KAWAII because I just got some stuff in the mail last week. Maybe I should try playing with those kawaii items, surely tangible kawaii goods can heal all?

Nurse Kawaii, heal my broken heart (and fix my piggy bank).

christmas break begins!

Gueeeeeesssssssss whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? MY FINALS ARE DONE!!! WOOOOO!!! CELEBRATION TIME, C'MON!!!!

♪┏(・o・)┛♪┗ ( ・o・) ┓♪┏ ( ) ┛♪┗ (・o・ ) ┓♪┏(・o・)┛♪

Feels great! So great that I'm going to neglect my work of sending out invoices and Christmas greetings to clients and update my blog. I'm that bad ass.

My last final went alright, it was accounting theory (wtf right?) and a very open ended exam. I tried to apply as much theory as possible to the questions but I don't know how my professor is going to mark it. He's not a hard marker but he's not an easy one either. Hopefully, I'll get at least an A- (80-84) as a final grade.

In other great news, I finished all my Christmas shopping! Although I just finished my finals, I also just finished my shopping too! I ordered most of my gifts online and had them delivered to me (free shipping except for my sister's) so everything's done!

Now that my holiday begins, I can read Game of Thrones as much as I like. It's about kings, knights, dragons, sex and war. It's obviously a lot better than the way I put it but for more information, go here. For those of you who haven't read it, I strongly suggest you do! It's actually called A Song of Ice and Fire but it's known as The Game of Thrones since that's the name of the first book. There's currently 5 books I'm currently on the 4th book and I can't put it down (like all the others)! They also made a HBO series out of it, which I've downloaded and am going to watch during the Christmas season! Game of Thrones marathon!

The current 5 books.

The Iron Throne that everyone is fighting for.

House Banner of the Starks.

House Lannister.

House Baratheon.

Banner of Targaryen.

Kawaii version of all the major house banners.

I didn't list all the major house banners since it would go on forever (there's a lot of characters in the story, most of them not major but some would play a major role in one book or they'll disappear for a while and then come back.) I love love love this series and while I was googling all these pictures to post, I was tempted to buy myself a poster of one of the family sigils. But it would be hard for me to choose because I honestly don't have a favourite house since I like them all! Yes, even the Lannisters (for those of you who have read/watched the series).

In other news, I was thinking of getting myself a little something for Christmas. Kind of as a reward for working so hard during the year (I never actually had a real break from school or work...for the past 4 years). I was always either working full time or in school full-time with one of the other thrown in there (ie. If I was working full time, I'd only take one class and or if I was in school full-time, I'd work part time).

I can only get something that's about $30 (shipping included). It's between these two items;

Pusheen plush.

Sorry the image is so small, this is the only pic that I can find.

Which one should I get? Tell me your opinion either in the comments or the tagboard!

forced finals mini-break

Hey everyone! I'm sorry that I haven't updated in a while, studying for finals doesn't give much time for doing anything else! My life for the past week consisted of studying, eating, and sleeping. Wanting to kill myself was in there occasionally.

But that's 2 down and 1 more to go! And being the genius that I am, I forgot my textbook at school, even though I was at school LESS AND AN HOUR AGO! Now, I can't study for my final final and I am stressing out since I only have today (which won't be happening since I don't have my textbook) and tomorrow. It's on Monday morning, first thing. Aaaaah!

That's how I felt when I realized I forgot my book.

Luckily, Alex is going to pick it up on his way home from work (he works literally 5 mins away from school) and he didn't want to do it! He was all like, "Ugh grunt snort, no, I don't want to -sigh- FML, fine." Which is rude, especially since he PASSES BY SCHOOL AND MY HOUSE ON THE WAY BACK TO HIS HOUSE! Sheesh. Maybe I'm just demanding. Plus, he can sign up for kickboxing if he didn't already at school. I signed up yesterday! And this proves that I'm even dumber than before since I was at school yesterday and I didn't think to pick up my textbook. Oh God, I must've failed all my finals. If I can't even remember to pick up my textbook, then I definitely can't remember all that crap. But I honestly thought I had it at home.

I'm such a failure. I'm sorry!

So instead of studying, I'm making a blog post, yay! Oh, remember that post I made about Stumpy and all his whining and crying about how I messed up the project? Well, if you don't, then you can refresh your memory here. Anyway, we got our project back yesterday after the final and guess what mark we got? Take a guess.

A

which is between a 85 and a 89. Say whaaaaat?

I couldn't find a bigger picture and I was too lazy to make my own so this will do. Anyone else remember this show? It's amazing.

This might be better...

If only I had known before I got home, I would've been all, "IN YOUR FACE STUMPY! IF IT WASN'T FOR MY SUPER AWESOME EDITING OF YOUR SHIT ASS CRAP PART, WE WOULDN'T HAVE GOTTEN THIS SO YOU SHOULD'VE JUST KEPT YOUR USELESS TRAP SHUT!" but I only found out after I got home. But I still get bragging rights. And it's not because he had done a good job, he practically failed the first midterm and only got a 70 something on the second midterm while I got 85 and 93 respectively. I like to stroke my own ego, makes me feel smart.

You tell him Senor Chang

I also gave my friend her gift! Her reaction was this...

Except we weren't so far from each other.

I should get back to studying even though my textbook is at school. But at least I have my (shitty) notes and the teacher's (shitty) slides so I should get on that.

But it wouldn't be a post by me if I didn't have something kawaii in it. So here's the latest kawaii item that I want.

Soooo cute! It's called the Nemuneko Sleepy Cat or something. It's basically a cat that sleeps all the time! I don't like cats but I'll make an exception.
